Cook juicy tuna steaks quickly in the air fryer using a simple lemon herb marinade for a healthy, fast dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 (6-ounce) tuna steaks, about 1 inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  3. Place the tuna steaks in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, turning to coat both sides. Let them marinate for 10 minutes at room temperature.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the marinated tuna steaks in a single layer in the basket, ensuring they do not overlap.
  6. Air fry for 5 minutes for rare, 6 minutes for medium-rare, or 7 minutes for medium. Cooking time depends on the thickness of your steaks.
  7. Remove the steaks carefully and let them rest for 2 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a crispier exterior, you can lightly dust the marinated steaks with a small amount of paprika before air frying.
  • Do not overcook the tuna; it dries out quickly. Check for doneness early.
  • If your steaks are thicker than 1 inch, add 1-2 minutes to the cooking time.
