1 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup rice vinegar
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
Combine soy sauce, water, rice vinegar, honey, and sesame oil in a small saucepan.
Add minced garlic and grated ginger.
Whisk together.
If thickening, whisk in cornstarch until smooth.
Heat the sauce over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until slightly thickened if using cornstarch.
Remove from heat and let cool before using.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Notes
For a thicker sauce, use 2 teaspoons of cornstarch.
Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey to your preference.
Feel free to add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a touch of heat.
This sauce can be made ahead and stored for up to two weeks.
