A simple one-pan dessert combining apple pie filling and yellow cake mix for a quick fall treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of apple pie filling into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly across the bottom.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the apple filling layer. Do not mix.
  4. Pour the melted butter evenly over the dry cake mix layer.
  5. If using, sprinkle the ground cinnamon over the top.
  6. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  7. Let the cake cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
  • For a slow cooker version, use a greased 5-quart slow cooker and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours or on high for 1.5 to 2 hours.
