This recipe shows you how to make a warm, gooey baked brie wrapped in flaky puff pastry, topped with sweet fig jam and crunchy pecans. It is an easy, elegant appetizer perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (13-ounce) wheel of brie cheese, cold
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/4 cup fig jam
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. If your puff pastry sheet is thick, roll it out slightly on a lightly floured surface to about a 10×10 inch square.
  3. Place the cold brie wheel in the center of the puff pastry square.
  4. Spoon the fig jam evenly over the top of the brie wheel. Sprinkle the chopped pecans over the jam.
  5. Bring the edges of the puff pastry up and over the brie, meeting in the center. Pinch the seams together firmly to seal the cheese completely inside the pastry. Trim any excess dough.
  6. Flip the wrapped brie over so the seam side is down, and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Brush the entire surface of the pastry with the beaten egg wash. This helps it brown nicely.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  9. Let the baked brie rest for 5 minutes before serving. Serve warm with crackers or apple slices.

Notes

  • For a crispier bottom, place a layer of parchment paper between the brie and the baking sheet before wrapping.
  • If you prefer a savory topping, substitute the jam and pecans with caramelized onions and fresh thyme.
  • Do not overbake, or the cheese may leak out of the pastry.
