Ingredients
Scale
1.5 lbs thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin)
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon grated ginger
1 tablespoon mirin or rice wine
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions
In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, mirin, and black pepper.
Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
Add the marinated beef to the hot pan in a single layer, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
Sear the beef for 1-2 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
Serve immediately with rice, lettuce wraps, or your favorite Korean side dishes.
Notes
For best results, slice the beef very thinly. Partially freezing the beef makes it easier to slice.
Adjust the sweetness and saltiness of the marinade to your preference.
Marinating time can be extended for deeper flavor.
Ensure the pan is hot before adding the beef for a good sear.
