Make this quick and creamy cilantro lime sauce. It works well as a taco sauce, dressing, or dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh cilantro leaves, packed
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the cilantro, mayonnaise or yogurt, lime juice, garlic, jalapeño (if using), salt, and pepper into a food processor or blender.
  2. Process or blend until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
  3. Taste the sauce and adjust salt or lime juice if necessary.
  4. If the sauce is too thick, add water, one teaspoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency.
  5. Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • For a vegan version, use a vegan mayonnaise substitute.
  • If you prefer a thinner dressing, increase the amount of lime juice or add a small amount of water.
  • This sauce keeps well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days.
