- 2 cups pecan halves
- 1 large egg white
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Preheat your oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, lightly whisk the egg white until it is slightly frothy.
- Add the pecan halves to the egg white and toss until the nuts are evenly coated.
- In a separate small bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
- Pour the sugar mixture over the coated pecans. Toss gently until all the pecans are covered with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Spread the coated pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes, until the coating is dry and the pecans are lightly toasted. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
- Remove from the oven and let the pecans cool completely on the baking sheet. They will crisp up as they cool.
- Break apart any clumps once cooled.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the egg white before coating the nuts.
- Store cooled pecans in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week to maintain crunch.
- These pecans work well as a topping for salads or served as a simple holiday snack.
