This recipe provides instructions for making juicy, crispy chicken coated in a sweet and spicy hot honey glaze using a baking method suitable for weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to your heat preference)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a wire rack set over a baking sheet for better crisping.
  2. Pat the chicken pieces completely dry with paper towels. This step helps achieve a crisp exterior.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, hot sauce, apple cider vinegar, and smoked paprika to create the glaze. Set aside.
  4. Rub the chicken pieces with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Place the seasoned chicken on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake the chicken for 15 minutes.
  6. Remove the chicken from the oven. Brush half of the prepared hot honey glaze evenly over the top of the chicken pieces.
  7. Return the chicken to the oven and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Remove the chicken from the oven. Brush the remaining glaze over the hot chicken. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, you can lightly dust the chicken with cornstarch before seasoning and baking.
  • Serve this chicken over rice or with a side of roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
  • If you prefer thinner chicken cutlets, reduce the baking time by 5 to 7 minutes per side.
