Make tender, juicy steak bites effortlessly in your slow cooker. This simple crockpot steak recipe is perfect for busy weeknights and delivers rich, savory flavor with minimal hands-on time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup butter, cut into pieces
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place the cubed steak into your slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder over the steak cubes and toss gently to coat them evenly.
  3. Pour the beef broth over the seasoned steak.
  4. Scatter the pieces of butter over the top of the steak.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours, or on HIGH for 1.5 to 2 hours, until the steak is tender.
  6. During the last 15 minutes of cooking, stir in the minced garlic.
  7. Once cooked, remove the steak bites with a slotted spoon.
  8. If you wish to create a light sauce, mix the remaining liquid in the slow cooker with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons of cold water, then cook on HIGH for 5-10 minutes until thickened.
  9. Serve the crockpot steak bites immediately, garnished with fresh parsley. These are great served over mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can sear the steak cubes in a hot skillet for 1-2 minutes per side before adding them to the slow cooker. This step is optional but adds depth.
  • If you prefer a richer sauce, substitute Worcestershire sauce for half of the beef broth.
  • Check the steak after 3 hours on low; cooking time varies based on your slow cooker model.
