Create super fluffy, aromatic Garlic Butter Rice quickly. This simple side dish uses fresh garlic and rich butter to transform plain rice into a savory delight that pairs well with any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups water or chicken broth
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine the rinsed rice and water or broth in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan tightly, and simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand, covered, for an additional 10 minutes. Do not lift the lid during this resting period.
  5. While the rice rests, melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat.
  6. Add the minced garlic to the melted butter. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
  7. Remove the rice from the heat. Fluff the rice gently with a fork.
  8. Pour the garlic butter mixture evenly over the fluffed rice.
  9. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Toss gently to combine everything.
  10. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving hot.

Notes

  • Using broth instead of water adds extra depth of flavor to your rice.
  • For extra richness, use clarified butter or ghee.
  • Always measure your rice and liquid accurately for the best fluffy texture.
  • Resting the rice off the heat is key to achieving a light, non-sticky result.
