You can make fresh, flavorful green beans that taste gourmet with this simple roasting method. This recipe uses garlic and Parmesan cheese to create a crispy, irresistible side dish perfect for weeknight dinners or holiday meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Place the trimmed green beans in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil.
  3. Add the minced garlic, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Toss everything together until the green beans are evenly coated.
  4. Spread the green beans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Do not overcrowd the pan; use two sheets if necessary for crispier results.
  5. Roast for 15 minutes.
  6. Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the green beans.
  7. Return the pan to the oven and roast for another 5 to 7 minutes, or until the green beans are tender-crisp and the cheese is lightly golden and melted.
  8. Serve immediately as a flavorful vegetable side dish.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, toss with 2 slices of cooked, crumbled bacon before serving.
  • If you prefer a Southern Style Green Beans flavor, you can simmer the beans with a small amount of chicken broth and bacon grease before roasting.
  • This recipe works well for meal prep; store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
