A recipe for homemade lemonade featuring fresh peach flavor balanced with spicy ginger and tart lemon.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water (for syrup)
  • 1 cup water (for dilution)
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen peach slices
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
  • Cold water or club soda, to taste
  • Ice cubes
  • Peach slices and mint sprigs, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the ginger peach simple syrup: Combine the sugar, 1 cup of water, peach slices, and sliced ginger in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Bring it to a gentle simmer.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Let the syrup steep for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean container, pressing gently on the solids to extract all liquid. Discard the solids.
  6. In a large pitcher, combine the strained ginger peach syrup, fresh lemon juice, and 1 cup of cold water. Stir well.
  7. Taste the mixture. If you prefer a less tart or sweeter drink, adjust by adding more water or a small amount of extra sugar dissolved in hot water.
  8. To serve, fill glasses with ice. Pour the lemonade mixture over the ice, filling each glass about two-thirds full.
  9. Top the remaining space with cold water or club soda for a lighter, sparkling version.
  10. Garnish each glass with a fresh peach slice and a mint sprig.

Notes

  • For a stronger ginger flavor, increase the ginger slice amount to 1.5 inches.
  • If using frozen peaches, you may need to simmer the syrup slightly longer.
  • You can make the syrup up to one week ahead and store it in the refrigerator.
