Start your cozy winter morning right with this Green Tea Matcha Latte Oatmeal. It offers a warm, comforting bowl packed with bright, earthy matcha flavor. This recipe brings the creamy texture of a latte into your breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup Rolled Oats
  • 1 cup Water or Milk (Dairy or Non-Dairy)
  • 1 teaspoon Matcha Powder (High Quality)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tablespoon Maple Syrup or Honey (Adjust to taste)
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Optional Toppings: Sliced banana, nuts, extra matcha dusting

Instructions

  1. Combine the rolled oats, water or milk, and a pinch of salt in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low.
  3. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats reach your desired consistency.
  4. While the oats cook, whisk the matcha powder in a separate small bowl with 2 tablespoons of hot water until completely smooth and frothy. This prevents clumps.
  5. Remove the cooked oatmeal from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and your sweetener.
  6. Pour the prepared matcha mixture into the oatmeal. Stir well until the oatmeal is evenly colored a lovely green.
  7. Transfer the oatmeal to your serving bowl.
  8. Add your favorite toppings before you enjoy this warm treat.

Notes

  • For an extra creamy texture, use whole milk or full-fat canned coconut milk.
  • Taste the oatmeal before adding sweetener; matcha strength varies.
  • If your matcha clumps, use a small whisk or milk frother to create a smooth paste first.
  • Chef Tariq suggests adding a small pinch of ground cardamom for an unexpected warmth.
