This small-batch peach jam recipe is perfect for peak peach season. You’ll get a jar or two of sweet, spreadable jam without a big canning project.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ripe peaches
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Wash, peel, and pit the peaches. Cut them into chunks.
  2. In a large pot, combine the peach chunks, sugar, and lemon juice.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the peaches soften and release their juices.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 30-45 minutes, stirring more frequently as it thickens.
  5. Test for doneness by placing a small amount on a chilled plate; it should set.
  6. Pour the hot jam into clean jars, leaving headspace.
  7. Process in a water bath canner according to manufacturer’s instructions, or store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.

Notes

  • For easier peeling, blanch peaches in boiling water for 30 seconds, then plunge into ice water.
  • Adjust sugar to your sweetness preference.
  • This jam is delicious on toast, scones, or yogurt.
