Ingredients
Scale
1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)
4 cups cold water
Ice cubes
Lemon slices and fresh mint sprigs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Make the strawberry syrup: Combine the sliced strawberries, sugar, and 1 cup of water in a saucepan.
Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries have broken down and the sugar has dissolved, about 5-7 minutes.
Remove from heat and let it steep for 10 minutes.
Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.
Let the strawberry syrup cool completely.
In a large pitcher, combine the cooled strawberry syrup, fresh lemon juice, and 4 cups of cold water.
Stir well to combine.
Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as needed by adding more sugar or lemon juice.
Serve over ice, garnished with lemon slices and mint if desired.
Notes
For a smoother lemonade, you can blend the strawberries with the sugar and water before straining.
Adjust the amount of sugar and lemon juice to your personal preference.
This lemonade can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
