Ingredients
Scale
4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and black pepper to taste
1/4 cup honey
3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
2 tablespoons minced fresh garlic
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) if baking, or prepare your skillet for pan-searing.
Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides lightly with salt and pepper.
In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and ginger until well combined. This is your glaze.
If baking: Place salmon on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush half of the glaze over the fillets. Bake for 12-15 minutes, brushing with the remaining glaze halfway through cooking, until the salmon flakes easily.
If pan-searing: Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear salmon presentation-side down for 3-4 minutes until browned. Flip the salmon. Brush the top with half the glaze. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cook for 3-5 minutes. Brush with remaining glaze and cook for 1-2 minutes until the glaze thickens slightly.
If air frying: Place salmon in the air fryer basket. Brush with half the glaze. Air fry at 380°F (195°C) for 6 minutes. Brush with remaining glaze and cook for another 3-5 minutes until done.
Remove salmon from heat and let it rest for 2 minutes before serving.
Notes
To prevent the honey from burning, especially when pan-searing or air frying, apply the final layer of glaze only during the last few minutes of cooking.
For a thicker glaze, simmer the sauce mixture separately on the stovetop for 2-3 minutes until slightly reduced before brushing onto the fish.
Serve this salmon with steamed broccoli or white rice to soak up extra glaze.
