Ingredients
Scale
1 (14.1 ounce) package of pretzel rods
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground mustard powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.
Break the pretzel rods into pieces, about 1 to 2 inches long. Place them in a very large bowl.
In a small saucepan, whisk together the vegetable oil, honey, Dijon mustard, onion flakes, garlic powder, ground mustard powder, and salt.
Heat the mixture over low heat until it is warm and well combined. Do not boil.
Pour the warm honey mustard mixture over the pretzel pieces.
Gently toss the pretzels until every piece is evenly coated with the sauce.
Spread the coated pretzels in a single layer on one or two large baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 15 minutes.
Remove the sheets from the oven. Immediately sprinkle the Parmesan cheese over the pretzels.
Return the pretzels to the oven and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
Remove from the oven and let the twists cool completely on the baking sheets. They will crisp up as they cool.
Notes
Stir the mixture frequently while baking to prevent sticking and ensure even crisping.
Store cooled twists in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the wet mixture.
