Create delightful hot chocolate bombs that melt into rich cocoa spheres when you pour hot milk over them. These are perfect for a fun holiday activity and a thoughtful homemade gift.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (milk, semi-sweet, or dark)
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
  2. Stir in the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, salt, and cinnamon (if using) until well combined.
  3. Spoon the mixture into silicone sphere molds, ensuring an even coating on the sides and bottom.
  4. Chill the molds in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes, or until firm.
  5. Carefully remove the chocolate spheres from the molds.
  6. Fill half of the spheres with mini marshmallows and any other desired fillings.
  7. Warm a plate or a shallow pan in the microwave for about 10 seconds.
  8. Gently press the empty half-spheres onto the warmed plate to slightly melt the edges.
  9. Immediately press the filled spheres onto the empty ones to create sealed bombs.
  10. Decorate with additional melted chocolate or sprinkles if desired.
  11. To serve, place a hot chocolate bomb in a mug and pour hot milk over it. Stir until fully melted and enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure your silicone molds are clean and dry before starting.
  • If the chocolate mixture is too thick, you can add a teaspoon of vegetable oil or coconut oil to make it more pliable.
  • For a smoother finish, you can temper your chocolate before using it.
  • Store the finished hot chocolate bombs in an airtight container at room temperature.
