Make a satisfying, cheesy, meaty lasagna without all the fuss. This lazy lasagna casserole uses frozen ravioli to skip boiling noodles and layering, giving you classic comfort flavor fast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
  • 1 (16 ounce) package frozen cheese ravioli
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Brown the ground beef or sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir the marinara sauce into the meat mixture. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning until well combined.
  5. Spread half of the meat sauce mixture evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  6. Arrange half of the frozen ravioli in a single layer over the sauce.
  7. Spread the entire ricotta mixture over the layer of ravioli.
  8. Top the ricotta with the remaining ravioli.
  9. Pour the remaining meat sauce over the top layer of ravioli.
  10. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
  11. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the casserole is heated through.
  12. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Chef Tariq suggests using half beef and half Italian sausage for deeper flavor.
  • Amara recommends adding a sprinkle of fresh basil after baking for brightness.
  • If you do not have frozen ravioli, you can use oven-ready lasagna noodles, but you will need to layer them traditionally.
  • Leo likes to mix a dash of smoked paprika into the meat sauce for a surprising note.
