Elevate your classic seven-layer magic cookie bars with a decadent candy bar twist. This recipe combines the familiar layers of graham cracker crust, chocolate chips, and coconut with the irresistible crunch and flavor of your favorite candy bars for an extra special treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 cup (6 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (6 ounces) milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped candy bars (such as Snickers, Milky Way, or Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups)
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter and graham cracker crumbs. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to form the crust.
  3. Sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips and milk chocolate chips evenly over the crust.
  4. Next, scatter the chopped candy bar pieces over the chocolate chips.
  5. Evenly distribute the sweetened shredded coconut over the candy bar layer.
  6. If using, sprinkle the chopped nuts over the coconut.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the chocolate is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before lifting them out by the parchment paper overhang.
  9. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • For best results, use a variety of candy bars for a more complex flavor.
  • Ensure your oven is preheated correctly for even baking.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting to prevent them from falling apart.
