  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (16 ounce) package cottage cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Cook the spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion until the beef is no longer pink. Drain off any excess grease.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. In a medium bowl, combine the cottage cheese, beaten egg, and chopped parsley. Mix well.
  6. In a large bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti, meat sauce, cottage cheese mixture, mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Stir gently to combine.
  7. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and heated through.
  9. Let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For an extra creamy texture, you can add a splash of heavy cream to the cottage cheese mixture.
  • If you don’t have cottage cheese, ricotta cheese can be substituted.
  • Feel free to add your favorite vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms to the meat sauce.
