Create a wonderfully warm and festive Peppermint White Hot Chocolate. This recipe captures the cozy spirit of the holidays, offering a rich, creamy base perfectly balanced with cool peppermint flavor. It is easy to make and perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups Whole Milk
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 6 ounces High-quality White Chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon Peppermint Extract
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Optional Toppings: Whipped Cream, Crushed Candy Canes

Instructions

  1. Pour the milk and heavy cream into a medium saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it just begins to steam around the edges. Do not let it boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to low. Add the chopped white chocolate and sugar to the warm milk mixture.
  4. Whisk continuously until the white chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract, peppermint extract, and salt.
  6. Taste the hot chocolate. Add more sugar or peppermint extract if you prefer a stronger flavor.
  7. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs.
  8. Top with whipped cream and crushed candy canes before serving immediately.

Notes

  • For a richer drink, you can use half-and-half instead of whole milk and cream.
  • Use good quality white chocolate; the flavor depends heavily on it.
  • If you want a deeper peppermint flavor without too much extract, add 2-3 crushed candy canes to the milk while heating, then strain them out before adding the chocolate.
  • This recipe comes from the spirit of sharing we found in our kitchen at Savory Skies.
