Ingredients
Scale
1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
1/4 cup chopped onion (optional)
3 large eggs
1 1/2 cups half-and-half or heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Place the unbaked pie crust on a baking sheet.
Sprinkle the crumbled bacon, shredded Gruyère cheese, and chopped onion (if using) evenly over the bottom of the pie crust.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, half-and-half or heavy cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until well combined.
Carefully pour the egg mixture over the bacon and cheese in the pie crust.
Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the quiche is set and the top is golden brown. A knife inserted near the center should come out clean.
Let the quiche cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a crispier crust, blind bake the pie crust for 10 minutes before adding the filling.
You can substitute other cheeses like Swiss or cheddar if Gruyère is not available.
