Make this quick and creamy Louisiana-style remoulade sauce at home. It offers a tangy, spicy flavor perfect for seafood, sandwiches, and fries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Creole mustard
  • 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Creole or Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Place the mayonnaise, Creole mustard, horseradish, sweet pickle relish, paprika, Creole seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using) into a medium bowl.
  2. Add the fresh lemon juice and chopped parsley to the bowl.
  3. Whisk all ingredients together until the sauce is completely smooth and well combined.
  4. Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings if needed, adding more horseradish or cayenne for desired flavor.
  5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the remoulade sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For a lower-carb version, substitute the sweet pickle relish with finely minced dill pickle and add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar substitute if desired.
  • This sauce tastes best when made ahead of time, allowing the spices to fully infuse the mayonnaise base.
  • Use this sauce as a topping for fried shrimp, crab cakes, burgers, or as a dip for french fries.
