Prepare these easy, spicy cream cheese appetizers, perfect for parties or game day snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large jalapeños
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onion
  • 12 slices bacon, halved (optional)
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Cut the jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes. Wear gloves when handling the peppers.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and green onion until well combined.
  3. Spoon the cream cheese mixture evenly into the jalapeño halves.
  4. If using bacon, wrap one half-slice of bacon around each filled jalapeño half and secure with a toothpick if necessary.
  5. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  6. Place the filled jalapeños on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Sprinkle the tops lightly with panko breadcrumbs.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the bacon is crisp (if used) and the filling is hot and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Remove toothpicks before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier bite, leave a few seeds inside the jalapeños.
  • You can prepare these bites up to one day ahead and store them covered in the refrigerator before baking.
  • If you do not use bacon, you can bake them directly on a lightly greased baking sheet.
