- 4-5 lb boneless pork shoulder
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Place sliced onion in the bottom of your slow cooker.
- Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and place it on top of the onions.
- In a bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the pork shoulder.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or on high for 4-5 hours, until the pork is tender and easily shreds.
- Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks.
- Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and stir it into the sauce.
- Serve hot on buns for sandwiches.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of BBQ sauce to your preference.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sauce mixture.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
