1 cup orange juice
1/2 cup fresh lime juice
1/4 cup maple syrup (or to taste)
1 cinnamon stick
3 star anise
10 whole cloves
1 cup sparkling water or club soda
Fresh cranberries and orange slices for garnish
Instructions
In a large saucepan, combine cranberry juice, orange juice, lime juice, maple syrup, cinnamon stick, star anise, and cloves.
Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it is warm and the spices have infused. Do not boil.
Let the mixture steep for at least 15-20 minutes.
Strain the spiced juice mixture to remove the whole spices. Discard the spices.
Chill the spiced juice mixture thoroughly in the refrigerator.
Just before serving, pour the chilled spiced juice into glasses filled with ice.
Top each glass with a splash of sparkling water or club soda.
Garnish with fresh cranberries and orange slices.
Notes
Adjust the maple syrup to your preferred sweetness.
For a stronger spice flavor, let the spices steep longer in the juice.
You can prepare the spiced juice mixture a day in advance.
