Make flavorful shrimp tacos featuring seasoned shrimp and a creamy, spicy Sriracha mayonnaise sauce. This recipe is quick enough for a weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • 12 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage (for slaw)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shrimp: In a medium bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  2. Cook the shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from heat.
  3. Make the Sriracha mayo: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Sriracha sauce, lime juice, and honey until smooth. Taste and add more Sriracha if you prefer more heat.
  4. Prepare the tortillas: Heat the tortillas according to package directions. You can warm them in a dry skillet for 30 seconds per side or wrap them in a damp paper towel and microwave briefly.
  5. Assemble the tacos: Place a portion of cooked shrimp onto each warm tortilla. Top with shredded cabbage and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro.
  6. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the tacos.

Notes

  • For a balanced flavor, use less Sriracha and add a small pinch of sugar to the mayo sauce to counter the heat.
  • Corn tortillas offer a more traditional flavor, while flour tortillas hold up well to wetter toppings.
  • To make a quick slaw, toss the shredded cabbage with a splash of lime juice and a pinch of salt.
