Make a quick and flavorful Spicy Tuna Bowl using sushi-grade tuna, rice, fresh vegetables, and a creamy sriracha dressing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz sushi-grade Ahi tuna, diced
  • 1 cup cooked sushi rice or brown rice
  • 1/2 medium cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 ripe avocado, sliced
  • 1/4 cup shelled edamame, cooked
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (Japanese preferred)
  • 1-2 tablespoons sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce or tamari
  • 1/2 teaspoon rice vinegar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the spicy sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sriracha, soy sauce, and rice vinegar until smooth.
  2. Prepare the tuna: In a separate bowl, gently toss the diced sushi-grade tuna with the sesame oil.
  3. Combine the tuna and sauce: Pour about two-thirds of the spicy sauce over the tuna and gently fold to coat. Reserve the remaining sauce for drizzling.
  4. Assemble the bowl: Place the cooked rice in the bottom of your serving bowl.
  5. Arrange the toppings: Place the cucumber slices, avocado slices, and edamame around the edge of the rice.
  6. Add the tuna: Spoon the spicy tuna mixture into the center of the bowl.
  7. Garnish and serve: Drizzle the remaining spicy sauce over the tuna and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use only sushi-grade or sashimi-grade tuna when preparing this dish raw.
  • For a lower-carb option, substitute rice with cauliflower rice.
  • If you prefer a tangier sauce, add a small squeeze of fresh lime juice to the dressing.
