This recipe for Spicy Watermelon Margaritas is a vibrant and refreshing summer drink. It combines the sweetness of watermelon with a hint of spice and the classic margarita tang, perfect for any warm-weather gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cubed seedless watermelon, frozen
  • 1 cup tequila
  • 1/2 cup lime juice, fresh
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur (like Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
  • Salt or chili-lime salt, for rimming glasses
  • Watermelon wedges and lime slices, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare your glasses: Rub the rims of your margarita glasses with a lime wedge and dip them in salt or chili-lime salt. Set aside.
  2. Combine ingredients: In a blender, combine the frozen watermelon, tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, agave nectar, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Blend until smooth: Blend the mixture until it is smooth and has a slushy consistency. If it’s too thick, add a splash of water or more lime juice. If it’s too thin, add a few more frozen watermelon cubes.
  4. Taste and adjust: Taste the margarita and adjust the sweetness with more agave nectar or the spice level with more cayenne pepper if desired.
  5. Serve: Pour the Spicy Watermelon Margaritas into the prepared glasses.
  6. Garnish: Garnish each drink with a watermelon wedge and a lime slice. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • For a less spicy version, reduce or omit the cayenne pepper.
  • If you don’t have frozen watermelon, you can use fresh watermelon and add a cup of ice to the blender.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding more or less agave nectar.
