Ingredients
Scale
2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, packed
1 cup fresh lime juice (from about 6-8 limes)
1/2 cup granulated sugar, or to taste
4 cups cold water
Ice cubes
Fresh strawberry slices and basil sprigs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a blender, combine the sliced strawberries and basil leaves. Blend until smooth.
In a large pitcher, combine the strawberry-basil puree, fresh lime juice, and granulated sugar. Stir well until the sugar is dissolved.
Add the cold water to the pitcher and stir again.
Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as needed by adding more sugar or lime juice.
Chill the limeade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Serve the strawberry basil limeade over ice. Garnish with fresh strawberry slices and basil sprigs if desired.
Notes
For a less sweet limeade, reduce the sugar.
If you don’t have a blender, you can muddle the strawberries and basil very well.
This limeade can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
