Ingredients
Scale
1 large sweet potato
1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for oven method)
Pinch of salt and pepper (optional)
Instructions
Select a sweet potato that is firm and uniform in size.
Slice the sweet potato lengthwise into pieces about 1/4 inch thick. You should aim for 2 to 4 slices per potato.
For Air Fryer Method: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the slices in a single layer in the basket, avoiding overlap. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until tender but firm.
For Oven Method: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly brush both sides of the slices with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper, if using. Arrange slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and slightly softened.
Remove the sweet potato slices from the cooking appliance. They are now ready to top.
Notes
For the best results, choose sweet potatoes that are not overly long or curved.
If your slices are very thin, they may crisp up quickly; monitor them closely during cooking.
You can meal prep these slices by cooking them fully and storing them in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat briefly before topping.
