  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine sugar, corn syrup, butter, evaporated milk, and salt.
  3. Microwave on high for 5 minutes. Stir well.
  4. Continue microwaving in 1-minute intervals, stirring after each interval, until the mixture reaches 240 degrees F (115 degrees C) or soft-ball stage. This may take 10-15 minutes total.
  5. Carefully stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
